Who's Early Now? :)

Hahaha.. I came late yesterday… Just 5 minuten nach the right time.. :) I came viertel von neun then Ma'am asked me why I was late… I should've told her that I bought food for my breakfast downstairs but I can't tell that in German so I just told her "Mein Wecker war kaputt." out of nowhere… Well, actually that was part of that.. I accidentally turned off my cellphone while the alarm was ringing loudly while I was fast asleep.. I woke up at exactly Acht Uhr.. Harsh… :( Well, at least I could say that I was able to regain what I lost by actively participating in class.. Whew.. (It's just sad that I was the only one asked by ma'am where I am not the only one late during that time… Haha.. Mean.. >:) )

Despite of what happened yesterday, I did my best just to go to school early today… Haha.. Happy.. ;) Well… Actually, I have an exam today that's why I was able to get up so early. Heute stehe ich 3 Uhr auf. Haha.. I see to it that whenever I have an exam, I get up so early to prepare. :) I am not cramming in spite of what I said yesterday.. Studying hours before an exam isn't actually my habit.. That's supposed to be part of a joke.. Haha… Actually, I am preparing at least 1-2 weeks before my exam… Especially that our major subjects are so hard that coping with the right schedule is really a tedious task.. Haha.. I wish that our major subjects are as easy as German 10/11… :) I really enjoy studying German.. :)

Hmmm.. Actually, I'm not the first one in class today. As usual, Kiko is the first one to arrive.. :) I'm just the second then Crissy is next then Mimi.. We're just 4 in the room right now and it is already viertel nach acht.. Haha… Hmmm.. I am actually looking forward to this day… (though I have an exam in the afternoon…) Haha..

Neu Plan

Guten Morgen! Es ist Montag heute. It’s been weeks and still I haven’t updated my German online portfolio. Entschuldigung! I’ve decided to do many things starting today. Ja! Richtig! I’ll be changing my plans for German 11.

Since I am not able to update my portfolio online, I decided to just update it in my daily planner/organizer/diary. Then I’ll just copy-paste it online as soon as I got hold of an internet connection. (That is most probably every weekends :).. If I don’t have much to do… )

Also, I want to consider now writing in Full German.. I think it will be harder for me to talk to my housemates ('cause I'm living in a boarding house) because it is now the middle of the semester. Everybody seems to be busy nowadays.. Haha.. :) I think it would really help me if I could be fluent in German by being accustomed to writing it.. Not only in my portfolio but also other notes, diaries etc.. (I won't bother writing my major class notes in German.. That would be too hard since we're always writing diagrams and other stuff.. Haha :)) )

Aside from this changes, I will occasionally include class notes here online.. (Especially the mostly used ones.. ) Hmm.. I think it would be easier for me to retain these things as long as I use them always.. :) 

Hmmm.. I guess that would be all for now… :)

Ready for German 11?

Come German 11, I guess I need to prepare.. ^_^

Hmm.. After evaluating what I learned from German 10, I guess I would have to be better in German 11. Many people keep on telling me that I need to pursue German even after German 11. ( Means more hardships like taking German 12,13 and so on.. Haha..) This would really be helpful in my career especially because my family is planning to migrate in Europe.. Haha.. :) I think that would be fun. (Aside from the fact that Ms. Arroyo would not be my teacher anymore in those subjects.. :( ) But before that, I need to plan my strategy in tackling the next subject.. German LEVEL 2.. Here I come! :)

Hmmm.. So what do I expect to learn in German 11.. (Haha.. Still, I don't know what kind of sentence constructions and situations we would study this time.. ) 

• I'd like to learn a little bit harder sentence construction. Though I was having a little trouble making my own sentences using the basic sentence construction, I am still eager on learning more about the harder ones... (or even weirder and wilder.. :) )
• I'd like to know how to tell the time! (haha.. Ms. Arroyo told me once that it's much harder than the usual American way to tell time.. I guess it is because of the different breakdowns of their time.. )
• I'd like to learn how to use the irregular verbs and the perfect tenses.. I think, that would make my life easier. It's really hard to make sentences especially if you can't convey what you need to say with just a few tenses to choose from.. :)
• And many more... (My brain feels like it stopped working.. Haha.. I should get some sleep.. :P)

So, in order to improve and know these stuff, what should I do?.. Actually there are many things I would like to try in German 11. First of all, I would allot more time now. ( I am still coping up with my schedule but I will see to it that allot more time and effort in studying the subject. :) ) Next, instead of writing just these blog posts, I would occasionally make a comic strip with German expressions or even conversations, words etc. (Here is an example below.. :) )

The picture above would be my cover for the said "experiment". Haha. That would be my drawing notebook. I usually make scribbles during class. But now, instead of scribbles, I would be drawing a lot of these anime characters and I would include some german phrases so that it would be easier for me to remember them. I could even draw objects with their names written in German and the like.. :) I think this would be fun.. Haha..

For now, this would be the things that I would do. (But I will add for sure sooner or later.. Haha :) )

Evaluation

Cool.. Most of the people now are finished with their midterms.. But for us, we're done with our finals for German 10! Hooray! :)

So, what have we done so far?

• We did a lot of dialogs about things we usually say in a cafeteria and the airport.
• We also tackled about describing different countries and their locations.
• We started talking about nouns, verbs, adjectives and the like.
• We also talked about numbers, letters and pronunciation.
• We are also done describing ourselves and our home.

Whew.. That was too much too handle.. But I guess it was relatively easy for me because I really enjoy it. I have done my best just to practice learning this new language. I was really eager from beginning until the end of German 10. But I have to admit that I started slacking after the midterms. Maybe it was because our majors were slowly piling up. It is as if I would experience "avalanche" (as our director would call) anytime soon. That's scary. I guess I would have to get back on what I do before: Make a list all of the things I need and want to learn everyday. (At least 10 phrase or sentence per day.. haha..) 

I really think that I still lack the knowledge of most nouns and verbs. I usually get stuck when writing a paragraph when I take our exams because I don't know what verbs to write or even some of the gender of nouns. I guess it's time to get back on these topics even before going to German 11. Hmmm.. I think I need to make a confession.. Haha... The reason that I get a little above average marks during the midterms is that I pay attention not only to what is asked and written on the exam parts but also to the clues written on the other parts of the exam. I just usually pattern my answers from the written sentences that I recognize and I try to avoid writing down things that I am not sure of. :) I guess I need to change this notion. Haha.. I should study better and be confident enough not only during exams but also during our class..

I guess that's all for the evaluation... I'll do my best.. Viel Glück! :D

Exam on Tuesday... (July 13, 2010)

Whew... It's been a very busy week... I just had an exam on of my majors yesterday...

(Those exams are kinda killing me... Geez..) /XP

Well anyways... Today's a great day.. I had time to see you guys again...

Hmmm... I need to update many things today.. Starting with the lessons that I missed to share with you guys... For the past few weeks,.. We've been learning about genders of different words.. (Yup! All things have genders in German..) I really can't believe that even the table has gender.. You can now call it "der Tisch" for it is male. Haha..

So far we've been learning different things in the classroom and even inside the comfort room.. (Imagine talking about these things and dealing with their gender.. Totally weird.. Hahaha...) Hmm.. We also talked about "Nomen im Plural, unbestimmte Artikel und Verneinung.." (Woot.. That's a lot of words to memorize.. More of to memorize.. Hehe...)

As a preparation for our exam on Tuesday.. I've done a few things... I downloaded different tutorials over the internet so that I could practice the things that I learned... (If you want a copy, just leave a comment.. >:) ) I also searched for videos in Youtube for a few tutorials.. (And Thanks Dana... For that wonderful video that you uploaded in the forums.. Danke Schön! ) Here's one of the videos...

Hmm.. That's all for now.. I need to study.. Haha.. I'll just write an update after the midterms.. Hehe..

Whew... It's 10:24 AM and now I'm done with my German Class... Haha.. What a really nice day.. We had a math quiz bee today and all of my classmates were so competitive especially Philterr and Kara... Sorry if wrong spelling.. (^_^)v The game was a good one.. ( I just dunno who won.. Is it the winners or the champions? hehe.. ) Kudos to the winners! =D>

Hi Guys! I'm back! /hihi

After a few days of fixing my Sun Wireless Broadband...

Hooray for my new Blog! Clap! Clap! 

As you can see, I have already transferred the entries of my previous blog site.. Yey!

There are a few things that I considered when making this new site... (Well actually, I made a wordpress.com blog prior to this one but I hate it. You won't even have a chance to edit its CSS without paying them... Hmmmf... That's why I switched to blogger.com.. /wahaha )

You probably notice the site url.. Heinkelhe...  But why use Heinkelhe? 

Actually it is the Heinkel He Series. Heinkel He 178 is one of my favorite. It is the world's first aircraft to fly under turbojet power. So basically, it is the first JET Plane.. It is made by Hans von Ohain, a Deutsch Ingenieur (engineer). This plane is used by the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) during the  World War II. Simply Ingenious.. That's Germany for you.. Did you guys notice the Blog title? Düsenflieger...  The Heinkel He is a kind of Düsenflieger.. I bet you now know what Düsenflieger means. Ja! It is a German term for Jet Plane... Haha... (Well, the Heinkel He is a fighter plane and not an ordinary Jet Plane... :D)

And Lastly... My Background Image... Can you guess who it is?... I guess not.. He's not that known.. But based on the drawing, he looks much like..... Richtig! That's it! Sonic the Hedgehog!.. Actually, that is Jet the Hawk... He's the leader of the Babylon Rogues and one of Sonic's rivals... Haha :) He's often called the "Legendary Wind Master" because of his Extreme Gear... Hmmm... Well, my zodiac sign is Aquarius, the water bearer but with a wind element.. Haha.. It could be parallel to Jet the Hawk... And he's also cool! Like me... haha.. :)

Well that's it. I already gave you guys a few trivia of myself... haha... (Plus the reason why I really love this new site.. :D) But the real reason why I really love my new site is because it is..........     Clue: The entry title says it all.. Haha.. :)

Advanced Lessons in German

Wow.. I really studied German in advance. A friend of mine (Pate.. Thanks to her.. Clap! Clap!) taught MJ and me last Tuesday about some basic rules in reading and writing Deutsch. (Well actually, we had no lesson yet for two days so we are just eager to know different German words.)

1. In writing German, all nouns are capitalized. Yup! Weird enough. Even in the middle of the sentence, all nouns even only common nouns are capitalized.
2. In speaking. “V” is pronounced as “F” and “W” is pronounced as “V”.. (But “F” is not pronounced as “W”.. Haha.. It’s not even a cycle.. ^_^) So a good example is Volkswagen pronounced as “Folksvagen.”
3. There are two umlauts that I learned that day. One is “ü” pronounced as “UE” and the other is “ö” pronounced as “OE.” (BTW, you can use ALT+148 for "ö" and ALT+129 for "ü")
4. Also in speaking, “Z” is pronounced as “TS” and “SCH” is pronounced as “SH.”
5. The letter “R” is always pronounced as a schwa if preceded by “E” and “I” and pronounced as “Bad Romance” if preceded by “A”, “O” and “U.” You’ll get it if you know the song. Haha…

I really had a good time with that conversation… I felt that I have a severe malfunction in speaking because I had to repeat saying “OE” and “UE” many times before I get it correctly.. Haha… I really enjoyed learning a new language especially when we studied about numbers.. (The next thing I did is count all of the things around me in German, even all of the people in EEE VLC… ~ Very Large Classroom, odd name for a room really...) Haha.. That really made my day especially that our teacher did not show up..^_^ He’s in Germany at that time by the way… Maybe I’ll talk to him in German when he comes back.. Haha..

My First Blog Entry

Guten Morgen! Wow.. This is my first time in years since I wrote another entry of my blog. Actually, we are only required to do so. Haha.. But anyways, I’m still glad that I could write another entry. Did anyone notice how I did start my blog entry? Yup! That’s German or Deutsch! (Or should I say Ja?.. Hehe…)  Well, I think I should tell you the story how these all started.

In our German 10/11 class, we are asked to make a Language Learning Portfolio. It doesn’t have to be the bulky portfolio I used to have when I was in high school.. (By the way, I would upload some pics of it in the near future. Those are ancient.. Haha..) Hmm.. About this portfolio.. I decided to make a blog about it. I don’t like carrying a bulky sketch pad at school for a portfolio. (But I actually miss those sleepless nights designing my Filipino Portfolio back in high school.. haha.. ) I think that making a blog would really be helpful in learning a new language. This could be a way for me to practice German even without a language partner. (That’s cool right? Like talking to myself? Haha.. Nah… ) But seriously, it really does help. This is how I practiced English back then. (Actually not with a blog but with a diary.. I also consider this a diary, an online diary..) Since I am reminiscing the past of how I studied the English language, I’d like to give you guys a background of myself as a language speaker…

As a language speaker, I think I am fairly doing well. Based on the three languages I am able to speak plus a dialect that my grandmother has taught me, I was able to learn talking/writing a new language even for just a short time. (Yup! What a talented kid.. Clap! Clap!.. Nah.. Just joking.. ^_^) Well, those are not hard really, except for French. I studied French back in Fourth Year high school but that was just a little. Our French class was abolished since our school lacks teachers so I decided to study it during a tutorial. That only lasted for a few sessions so I think that I don’t know French that well. Hmm.. Well of course as a student, I had also strengths and weaknesses. I am able to learn a new language easily by just listening but if I don’t practice it outside the classroom, it won’t stay stuck up in my head for a long time. Haha.. I have a problem in my short time memory. Not really a disease but this works when I am studying for an exam or memorizing for a piece due a little hours later.. (Haha.. Crammer..)  Of course, I have to make a lot of effort if I would like to learn a new language. I had to practice it by writing essays, blog entries and the likes. I also need a language partner to practice with.. (Actually I have.. I make sure that everytime I go back to our boarding house, I speak to my roommates first in German then in Filipino or English. (Well I also speak to them Japanese, French, Korean etc. but just for a few words actually.. haha.. ) Hmmm.. I could actually use some help and thank God I have a friend who is enrolled in our class. Her name is MJ. She would be my language partner for the rest of this semester.. ( haha.. Bad for her because I am so persistent.. Or is it really that good? Haha.. Just don’t tell this blog to her.. Shhh… ^_^) Well I think that’s it… I’ll tell you more of my adventures in our language class for the days to come… (Haha.. Adventures.. It supposed to be adventures because of my teacher. I think she’s that cool.. She supposed to be.. Ops.. Expectations… Haha..) Then I shall see you again mate.. Tschüss!
