Finals in Deutsch Elf!

Geez.. At long last.. The final exam for German 11 is done! :) Haha.. Though I really had a hard time during the exam... I guess I would have a low grade there.. Hmm.. Well anyways.. It's just now that everything dawned upon me... It all sink in.. We'll be leaving German 10 & 11 in a short while.. Awww... :(

Well.. There are many things to remember in that class.. Haha... I think I'll always remember all great moments we shared together.. Haha.. :) Guess we won't be seeing in other in the future German classes.. Could be, if I take higher German subjects, I'll be seeing some of them... But maybe we'll see each other in other GE classes.. Maybe not.. But that would be alright.. I'll never forget you guys...

I guess it's alright to reveal a secret.. Haha.. Perhaps it's not a secret anymore.. Haha...

• One of our classmates in German 10/11 is the nephew of Pres. Noynoy Aquino... Haha.. There you go... Peace!! He's just so humble.. So people rarely notice this fact.. Nyahaha.. Try to guess.. Haha..:))

Today is the last day of our lecture for the German Class... Am Dienstag would be our exam.. Leider, I have zwei exams that day and another leider, Frau Arroyo refused to moved our exam in German.. Well anyways, that's ok.. I could manage.. Haha.. :)

Actually, we learned a new song today! :) haha.. Es trägt den Titel "Nur Für Dich" by the Wise Men.. :) Wir hörten das Lied in unserem Unterricht... Das Lied is sehr cool! Sehen und hören Sie.. :)

I don't know what's gotten into me but, I just missed Ma'am Roorkee del Rosario - Ong... . :) (Sooo sorry ma'am Jeanne.. But I just feel like it.. Haha.. ;) ) I've seen her again this morning.. And she still knew us... Haha.. Yey... Actually, they're both my favorite profs... Haha.. I treated this subject as one of my major this semester.. Haha.. (Even greater than my Physics 104 which I really hate.. Haha.. :P ) Hmm.. I am really satisfied with the way they handle the class... (Hmm.. Just like the SET's.. ) I just feel researching about her.. hahaha.. (on the internet.. :) )

I just learned that Frau Ong is an Assistant Professor at the Department of European Languages, College of Arts and Letters.. She's teaching German and French.. She taught us German while Frau Arroyo is in Germany for two weeks.. Haha.. (Actually, I thought that I would have a hard time with her because she's talking in German too fast.. hahaha.. unlike Frau Jeanne.. :) But it turned out, the two of them are the same.. They're both great.. haha... )

I really enjoyed studying German.. Really looking forward to learning German 14 & 15 with Ma'am Ong... (If only I could skip 12 & 13.. haha.. ) Maybe I could be minor in German and major in Computer Engineering.. Hahaha... I wish I could go to Germany now and work there.. :) Think I'll serve my country first... Yet I've still got a long way to go.. :D

Guten Morgen!

Ich habe ein film finden. Es trägt den Titel "Spirited Away" by the Japanese director, Hayao Mizaki. It is one of his award-winning films the others being, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke and many others.

The Film, Spirited Away, is the story of a girl, forced to survive in a bizarre spirit world, who works in a bathhouse for spirits after her parents are turned into pigs by the sorceress who owns it. Released in Japan in July 2001, the film broke attendance and box office records with ¥30.4 billion (approximately $300 million) in total gross earnings from more than 23 million viewings. It has received many awards, including Best Picture at the 2001 Japanese Academy Awards, Golden Bear (First Prize) at the 2002 Berlin Film Festival, and the 2002 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

I really love the film because it has a German subtitle aside from English! Haha.. :) Now I can watch a Japanese Animation while practicing German.. :D Actually, I haven't watched the whole film yet but at the start of the film, many German words caught my attention. I realized that now, Ich verstehe meist wörter besonders über Schule. Haha.. I'm really happy about it. :) Hmm.. Es ist jetzt halb acht vormittag.. Ich muss jetzt bereiten, nach der Uni zu gehen. Ich muss jetzt studieren. Ciao! :D

Last Saturday, I really felt so bored on the way home. Since I really don't have anything to do while on the bus, I decided to answer a part of my Kursbuch in Deutsch.. :) Actually, I didn't even realize the time. It took me the whole trip just to answer only one page.. Haha.. (It's not even the whole page. Just one paragraph.. :)) )

Hmmm.. Well today in class, we studied the page that I answered. Hmm.. I guess it was really worth.. We actually devoted all our time to only one page.. Hahaha.. :) I just wanted to take a few notes here of what we learned today.. :D

• The difference between weil and denn... The two words are used for explaining, providing reasons and the likes.. Weil means "because" while Denn means "for". When using "weil", you need to put your verb at the end of the sentence while when using "denn', you can create your sentence normally. Your verb will be at the second position. 

• Next, the use of perfect tenses is introduced. We used the word "getroffen" meaning, "had met." Notice that the bestimmter artikel is used as Akkusativ. (I don't know why really.. haha..)
• Das ist die Frau, die ich gestern getroffen habe.
• Das ist der Mann, den ich gestern getroffen habe.

• Next, the difference between "müssen" and "dürfen." "Müssen" means "have to" while "dürfen" means "may have to." The first expresses more conviction than the latter..
• Ich            -Darf
• Du            -Darfst
• Er/Es/Sie   -Darf
• Wir           -Durfen
• Ihr            -Durft
• sie/Sie       -Durfen

• Lastly, I learned a new way to say the expression "Tama!" (with the correct intonation.. hahaha..) Instead of saying "Richtig", you can say "Das stimmt." still with the proper intonation... :D Actually, on the way to our next class, Lor,Carl, MJ and I can't stop saying this expression again and again.. haha :)

I guess I've written quite a few things here.. :) I just wanted to keep an extended copy of my notes.. Just in case I wanted to look at it in the future.. Haha.. :D Guess that's all for today.. See yah..

Who's Early Now? :)

Hahaha.. I came late yesterday… Just 5 minuten nach the right time.. :) I came viertel von neun then Ma'am asked me why I was late… I should've told her that I bought food for my breakfast downstairs but I can't tell that in German so I just told her "Mein Wecker war kaputt." out of nowhere… Well, actually that was part of that.. I accidentally turned off my cellphone while the alarm was ringing loudly while I was fast asleep.. I woke up at exactly Acht Uhr.. Harsh… :( Well, at least I could say that I was able to regain what I lost by actively participating in class.. Whew.. (It's just sad that I was the only one asked by ma'am where I am not the only one late during that time… Haha.. Mean.. >:) )

Despite of what happened yesterday, I did my best just to go to school early today… Haha.. Happy.. ;) Well… Actually, I have an exam today that's why I was able to get up so early. Heute stehe ich 3 Uhr auf. Haha.. I see to it that whenever I have an exam, I get up so early to prepare. :) I am not cramming in spite of what I said yesterday.. Studying hours before an exam isn't actually my habit.. That's supposed to be part of a joke.. Haha… Actually, I am preparing at least 1-2 weeks before my exam… Especially that our major subjects are so hard that coping with the right schedule is really a tedious task.. Haha.. I wish that our major subjects are as easy as German 10/11… :) I really enjoy studying German.. :)

Hmmm.. Actually, I'm not the first one in class today. As usual, Kiko is the first one to arrive.. :) I'm just the second then Crissy is next then Mimi.. We're just 4 in the room right now and it is already viertel nach acht.. Haha… Hmmm.. I am actually looking forward to this day… (though I have an exam in the afternoon…) Haha..

Neu Plan

Guten Morgen! Es ist Montag heute. It’s been weeks and still I haven’t updated my German online portfolio. Entschuldigung! I’ve decided to do many things starting today. Ja! Richtig! I’ll be changing my plans for German 11.

Since I am not able to update my portfolio online, I decided to just update it in my daily planner/organizer/diary. Then I’ll just copy-paste it online as soon as I got hold of an internet connection. (That is most probably every weekends :).. If I don’t have much to do… )

Also, I want to consider now writing in Full German.. I think it will be harder for me to talk to my housemates ('cause I'm living in a boarding house) because it is now the middle of the semester. Everybody seems to be busy nowadays.. Haha.. :) I think it would really help me if I could be fluent in German by being accustomed to writing it.. Not only in my portfolio but also other notes, diaries etc.. (I won't bother writing my major class notes in German.. That would be too hard since we're always writing diagrams and other stuff.. Haha :)) )

Aside from this changes, I will occasionally include class notes here online.. (Especially the mostly used ones.. ) Hmm.. I think it would be easier for me to retain these things as long as I use them always.. :) 

Hmmm.. I guess that would be all for now… :)

Ready for German 11?

Come German 11, I guess I need to prepare.. ^_^

Hmm.. After evaluating what I learned from German 10, I guess I would have to be better in German 11. Many people keep on telling me that I need to pursue German even after German 11. ( Means more hardships like taking German 12,13 and so on.. Haha..) This would really be helpful in my career especially because my family is planning to migrate in Europe.. Haha.. :) I think that would be fun. (Aside from the fact that Ms. Arroyo would not be my teacher anymore in those subjects.. :( ) But before that, I need to plan my strategy in tackling the next subject.. German LEVEL 2.. Here I come! :)

Hmmm.. So what do I expect to learn in German 11.. (Haha.. Still, I don't know what kind of sentence constructions and situations we would study this time.. ) 

• I'd like to learn a little bit harder sentence construction. Though I was having a little trouble making my own sentences using the basic sentence construction, I am still eager on learning more about the harder ones... (or even weirder and wilder.. :) )
• I'd like to know how to tell the time! (haha.. Ms. Arroyo told me once that it's much harder than the usual American way to tell time.. I guess it is because of the different breakdowns of their time.. )
• I'd like to learn how to use the irregular verbs and the perfect tenses.. I think, that would make my life easier. It's really hard to make sentences especially if you can't convey what you need to say with just a few tenses to choose from.. :)
• And many more... (My brain feels like it stopped working.. Haha.. I should get some sleep.. :P)

So, in order to improve and know these stuff, what should I do?.. Actually there are many things I would like to try in German 11. First of all, I would allot more time now. ( I am still coping up with my schedule but I will see to it that allot more time and effort in studying the subject. :) ) Next, instead of writing just these blog posts, I would occasionally make a comic strip with German expressions or even conversations, words etc. (Here is an example below.. :) )

The picture above would be my cover for the said "experiment". Haha. That would be my drawing notebook. I usually make scribbles during class. But now, instead of scribbles, I would be drawing a lot of these anime characters and I would include some german phrases so that it would be easier for me to remember them. I could even draw objects with their names written in German and the like.. :) I think this would be fun.. Haha..

For now, this would be the things that I would do. (But I will add for sure sooner or later.. Haha :) )

Evaluation

Cool.. Most of the people now are finished with their midterms.. But for us, we're done with our finals for German 10! Hooray! :)

So, what have we done so far?

• We did a lot of dialogs about things we usually say in a cafeteria and the airport.
• We also tackled about describing different countries and their locations.
• We started talking about nouns, verbs, adjectives and the like.
• We also talked about numbers, letters and pronunciation.
• We are also done describing ourselves and our home.

Whew.. That was too much too handle.. But I guess it was relatively easy for me because I really enjoy it. I have done my best just to practice learning this new language. I was really eager from beginning until the end of German 10. But I have to admit that I started slacking after the midterms. Maybe it was because our majors were slowly piling up. It is as if I would experience "avalanche" (as our director would call) anytime soon. That's scary. I guess I would have to get back on what I do before: Make a list all of the things I need and want to learn everyday. (At least 10 phrase or sentence per day.. haha..) 

I really think that I still lack the knowledge of most nouns and verbs. I usually get stuck when writing a paragraph when I take our exams because I don't know what verbs to write or even some of the gender of nouns. I guess it's time to get back on these topics even before going to German 11. Hmmm.. I think I need to make a confession.. Haha... The reason that I get a little above average marks during the midterms is that I pay attention not only to what is asked and written on the exam parts but also to the clues written on the other parts of the exam. I just usually pattern my answers from the written sentences that I recognize and I try to avoid writing down things that I am not sure of. :) I guess I need to change this notion. Haha.. I should study better and be confident enough not only during exams but also during our class..

I guess that's all for the evaluation... I'll do my best.. Viel Glück! :D

Exam on Tuesday... (July 13, 2010)

Whew... It's been a very busy week... I just had an exam on of my majors yesterday...

(Those exams are kinda killing me... Geez..) /XP

Well anyways... Today's a great day.. I had time to see you guys again...

Hmmm... I need to update many things today.. Starting with the lessons that I missed to share with you guys... For the past few weeks,.. We've been learning about genders of different words.. (Yup! All things have genders in German..) I really can't believe that even the table has gender.. You can now call it "der Tisch" for it is male. Haha..

So far we've been learning different things in the classroom and even inside the comfort room.. (Imagine talking about these things and dealing with their gender.. Totally weird.. Hahaha...) Hmm.. We also talked about "Nomen im Plural, unbestimmte Artikel und Verneinung.." (Woot.. That's a lot of words to memorize.. More of to memorize.. Hehe...)

As a preparation for our exam on Tuesday.. I've done a few things... I downloaded different tutorials over the internet so that I could practice the things that I learned... (If you want a copy, just leave a comment.. >:) ) I also searched for videos in Youtube for a few tutorials.. (And Thanks Dana... For that wonderful video that you uploaded in the forums.. Danke Schön! ) Here's one of the videos...

Hmm.. That's all for now.. I need to study.. Haha.. I'll just write an update after the midterms.. Hehe..
